To see and do around St Florence Jordanston Holiday Cottages

As we said, one the most appealing aspects of a self-catering holiday in a Jordanston Holiday Cottage, is the way you can pick and choose from an almost endless list of things to do, creating your own holiday, just as you want it.

The peace and quiet of Pembrokeshire's stunning coastline and countryside truly belies the number of activities there are to enjoy in the area, and we only have room to list some of the most popular – if there's anything specific that you're looking for that we haven't listed, please give us a call and we will do our best to help.

St. Florence St. Florence is well known as being one of Pembrokeshire's most picturesque villages, many who come to stay here are content to forget the car, and and just spend their days soaking up the country views and the old-time village atmosphere – one of the friendliest you will find anywhere.

Welcome to St Florence

As well as a shop that can cater for your daily needs, there are two pubs – one with a traditional village atmosphere and one that is more geared to family visitors, and a garden centre with a delightful and very popular tea-room.

A little way out of the village, but still within walking distance, you can find two of Pembrokeshire's top attractions: Manor House, a wildlife and leisure park; and Heatherton, a country sports park with activities that range from go-karting and bumper boating, to family golf, paintball and horse-riding.

Tenby Just three miles from St. Florence is Tenby: Pembrokeshire's liveliest resort with a maze of characterful streets with all sorts of shops, restaurants and pubs. Tenby's delightful harbour has graced thousands of postcards, holiday snaps and paintings.

The harbour is also gateway to a boat ride to nearby Caldey Island with a welcoming community of Cistercian Monks that produce and sell some the most delicious chocolate you will ever find and a range of perfume that makes a very unique gift.

Tenby

On the way to Tenby you pass The Dinosaur Park, great fun for energetic children, and in the town itself, there is an undercover Children's Play Centre that also serves family meals. Tenby is also the nearest centre with a supermarket, banks, cashpoint machines etc.

Beaches Are you about to be spoilt! Pembrokeshire has one of the UK's most stunning coastlines that is, quite literally, littered with beaches, ranging from family playgrounds to hidden coves that can only be reached by the more adventurous.

The most popular with our visitors (and one of the very best) is Manorbier, just 11/2 miles away. There is a car park right at the beachside and it enjoys the sun well into the evening. To sit on the beach at Manorbier and watch the sun go-down is an experience that really captures the spirit of a Pembrokeshire holiday, and is one of the favourite memories for people to take home.

Barafundle Beach

Tenby has four sandy beaches, all served by beachside cafes, whilst nearby Broadhaven and Freshwater West are ideal if you're looking for a beach that's far from the 'madding crowd'.

And if you're visiting outside the summer months, the beaches are a great place for an invigorating stroll followed by a retreat to a warm tea house or local watering-hole.

Walks and Nature Trips As you'd expect of a country village, there are walks to enjoy right on your doorstep, but you can also visit Pembrokeshire Coast Path - the longest in the UK, with plenty of access points for either a short stroll or a serious trek.

Pembrokeshire Coast Path

A trip to the nature reserve of Skomer Island to see the spectacular puffins (April to August) and some very special flora and fauna is something that every wildlife enthusiast should add to their 'must do' list.

Oakwood Just 10 miles from St. Florence, you can find Wales' number one theme park with, amongst many other attractions, a ride that has been voted as 'the best wooden roller coaster in the world'. Folly Farm A farm-themed day out that includesEurope's largest undercover old-time fun fair, a chance to meet friendly farm animals and loads of outdoor fun, is 6 miles away.

Oakwood

Castles and ancient monuments Pembrokeshire is steeped in history, amply illustrated by the number of castles you can visit – ranging from the unique and still habitable castle at Picton to the packed-with-information and imposing castles of Manorbier and Pembroke, and the ruined remains of Carew, Llawhaden and Wiston.

Pentre Ifan

Anyone with an interest in ancient history shouldn't miss a journey into the Preseli Hills. Visit the ancient burial site of Pentre Ifan, and see the land of the Bluestones that ended up in the inner circle of Stone Henge – you may even like to add to the theories of how such huge stones managed to make a 180-mile journey 5000 years ago.

Watersports

Watersports A variety of watersports can be enjoyed at Tenby and Saundersfoot, or for tuition and organised outings onto the water you can visit the watersports centre at Pembroke Dock on the sheltered Milford Haven Waterway.
